The Owners

During their world travels beginning in 1990, Tiffany and Jeff Deutsch fell in love with the artistry of handcrafted rugs. Starting in South America and panning over the Middle East, they were captivated by the craftsmanship and lifetime quality of each piece being woven around the world. With such a love and respect for this art, they founded their first store Artisan Rug Gallery in Crested Butte, Colorado.

Now, after falling in love with Montana, the Deutsches are bringing these treasures to Alanya in historic Downtown Bozeman, named after their three daughters—Taylor, Elsa, and Anya—and also the name of a town in Turkey. While the Deutsches split their time between both locations, they are genuinely happy to share the extraordinary art of rugs in Montana.

With over 18 years of experience, Jeff meticulously hand selects each rug for both galleries, looking for purity of color, complexity of palette, pattern symmetry, uniqueness, balance and quality. He seeks out the finest weavers, the highest quality wool and the most skilled dye masters. Jeff has visited remote villages, observing families weaving in their homes as well as the meditative atmosphere of the local weaving co-ops, where he purchases directly from the artisans and from some of the most respected names in the world, such as Zollanvari, Tufenkian, Megerian, Woven Legends and New Moon. He has built an unshakable trust with these producers, guaranteeing woven excellence.
